Mallorca Sa Calobra climb

Mallorca getaway

“For more than two decades, the Mediterranean island’s quiet roads, perfectly pitched climbs, and dozens of bike-friendly hotels have turned it into a magnet for bikes.”

One of the aspects linked to the beauty of Palma de Mallorca is the multiple personalities that it takes on as we move inland from its coastal beaches and then again towards its mountainous area in the Northwest. Well-cared-for beaches of fine and clear sand where there are large hotels, cafes, and shops of all kinds contrast with a rural interior that tells of an ancient island, where you feel that time passes according to a different rhythm.

Day by Day program

In recent years Mallorca has become increasingly recognized as a destination that should not be missed among those cycling.

There are a range of different reasons: the climate, the attention to cyclists on the road, the services, the beauty of the landscape.

Mallorca island began to interest many people thanks to Sir Bradley Wiggins' mega-season in 2012 and the filming that took him through repeated climbs of Sa Calobra used as a training ground for the preparation of the Tour de France. Rather than this, indeed, Palma de Mallorca is simply a perfect place to ride, thanks to the emotions it can offer.

Small streets bordered by dry stone walls, olive trees, and various types of crops connect the coast with the central part of the island in every direction. You cross small villages where you can stop to enjoy a good coffee accompanied by an ensaimadas, a typical energetic dessert, perfect for pedaling.

DAY1: welcome to Mallorca and warm-up. 18km - 216m el gain

Private coordinated and collective transfer today from Palma airport to the hotel that will be our base for the first two days of this bike trip on Palma de Mallorca. Welcome briefing and introduction to the trip before dinner all together

DAY2: The South-West. 65km - 1262m el gain

Bike ride this morning to Valldemossa, a small town that has been promoted internationally as a place of extraordinary beauty.
The pedaling itself is circular and counterclockwise, perfect for introducing us to the climbs of the next few days. On the way back to our hotel, we’ll stop at a local winery for lunch; this will be an opportunity to taste excellent wines made in Mallorca. . In the afternoon, we will move to Palma for a guided tour of its center and dinner in town.

DAY3: Towards the climbs. 113km - 1123m el gain

Today the bike ride is to the Northeast of the island. We'll ride through the interior of the island where the passage of time seems to slow down, encouraging us to listen to our emotions and energy level. Dinner is included all together at the hotel this evening, a rural and elegant estate with gorgeous views over the beautiful bay of Pollença.

DAY4: Forget Strava. 60km - 1155m el gain

Today's stage focuses on the Northeast point of the island called Cape Formentor and the homonymous lighthouse located just at the tip of the peninsula. Get ready for amazing views, forget about Strava records, and enjoy every single meter of the route. Dinner is included all together at the hotel this evening.

DAY5: Sa Calobra. 114km - 2594m el gain

Today we will first go to Port de Soller and from there we will take a short ferry ride to Sa Calobra. Sa Calobra is the most iconic climb on this island with its constant slope and spectacular views as a setting. Once we have had a chance to reenergize our legs after the climb, we'll ride back to our hotel.

Dinner is included at the hotel.

DAY6: Ermita de La Victoria. 38km - 403m el gain

The ride to Port d'Alcudia and Ermita De La Victoria is is our way to close the trip. It offers us the perspective from the other side of the Port de Pollenca bay with splendid views over the entire bay of Pollença.
Farewell dinner all together to celebrate the adventure!

DAY7: Arrivederci!

After breakfast, we’ll have a collective and coordinated transfer back to Palma airport.
End of services.

This trip, as well as all the RYL trips, is from a minimum of 6 to a maximum of 12 participants. We believe that small groups give more opportunities for socializing and for creating stronger connections.

The spirit of the trips in RIDE YOUR LIFE is to enjoy the rides at your own speed and give you a chance to test your legs at your own pace. None of our bike rides is a race; we know, however, that some riders will be faster than others, and that each one likes to keep his/her own pace along the uphill rides, therefore our way is to enjoy the ride and wait for the last riders at the summits to reconnect the group. Experience is all together!

In terms of difficulty: the trip includes uphill and some long rides, so we would suggest the trip is for intermediate or above level riders.

For every ride, you’ll find the service of the van support to let you have the comfort of snacks, water, and energy drinks along with the rides. The vehicle follows us in case any of the group needs to or prefers to skip any section of the ride.
